Our french cottage (or, in french, gîte) is in Passavant-sur-Layon, in the Loire valley - the heart of a major wine region of France. It is near Saumur, Angers and Thouars and provides a good base for exploring the châteaux of the Loire. In addition to the wine and the châteaux, the region is good for walking and cycling, with varying scenery and plenty of small woods and rambling hills.

Of course, it's great for just sitting in the sun and drinking in the wonderful quiteness of the tranquil Layon countryside. It has to be said that the peaceful atmosphere may be disturbed by the birds roosting in the disused tower of the 12th century château that lies opposite the gîte - but they add wonderfully to the overall ambiance of your holiday in France.

For more details about the holiday cottage and what you might enjoy in the region, feel free to browse round our web site.

There is plenty of car parking space.
